Lately it feels like some kind of veil has been lifted and things that were once hidden or easy to ignore are suddenly in our faces. Maybe a job, business, relationship, or situation isn’t quite what you thought it was. Or a new perspective is coming alive for you, even if nothing on the outside changed. Something just feels different and suddenly misaligned without proof or logic to explain why.
There’s a reason for that — Neptune, the planet of dreams, illusions, and consciousness itself, has left it’s home in docile Pisces and entered fiery Aries, the warrior who wants to burn away the wool that’s been over our eyes and force us to look at the reality of what we’re working with. The truth is unavoidable now, and sometimes it’s ugly.
At this point you may be thinking, “Marissa, you made this bold statement months ago officially announcing that you no longer are going to be talking about anything related to astrology. Where is this coming from?” I know – it came out of nowhere, but I’ll get to that later in this email.
Stepping into a new reality requires a leap of faith
With a 164 year cycle, the impact of Neptune is slow and generational, but its move into a new sign effects us on an individual level, too. And what I see happening on the individual level is that we’re being faced with some kind of truth that is sparking us to make a move. To take that next step — but without seeing what’s on the other side.
Neptune also represents the God within us, and as it moves into Aries we’re being challenged to make our faith real, to let it drive our actions. This sudden impulse to make a move without knowing what’s on the other side is a test of faith.
Do you trust your inner voice, the Universe, God, Your Higher Self enough to follow it into the dark?
I titled this post “Should I stay or should I go?” because that’s the biggest theme that’s surfacing around me. Often it’s referring to leaving a job, shutting down a business, but could also apply to leaving a situation or even a point of view that no longer resonates with you. But everyone is stuck because while they know the choice they want to make, they have no idea where it will lead them — and that’s the whole point.
Especially being two weeks away from a solar eclipse, now is not the time to try to control outcomes. Eclipses make us throw our plans out the window, because they open doors that we don’t yet see.
So as friends have come to me asking for advice on what they should do next, the question I ask back is “What would you do if you knew everything was going to work out?” That’s your answer. You’re not being asked to predict the future, you’re being asked to trust that everything you’ve been dreaming about is just beyond a leap of faith.
You will not be shown what’s next until you take that step. And it requires utter surrender and radical trust that you are being guided towards exactly what it is you want on a soul level, without the outcome being revealed to you like a dangling carrot. The moves you make right know aren’t about outcomes, they’re about trust. This is a test to see what it is you really want without attachment to what’s on the other side.
My retirement may have just been a sabbatical
People tend to turn to astrology when they are navigating uncertainty, so I haven’t been surprised by how many people have been asking “what’s going on with the planets?” or “could you just take a look at my chart if you still have it?” What has surprised me, though, is my default response has shifted from “no, I don’t work with astrology anymore” to “sure, I really miss having these kinds of conversations.”
I’m learning to go with my bursts of inspiration without wondering where they will lead is something I’m learning how to master. And right now, I’m inspired to talk about astrology. Especially since this Neptune shift is the first of a few big planetary moves we’ll be living through this year. I think if nothing else, understanding what’s going on in the cosmos can provide us with comfort that whatever we’re experiencing is always temporary, and helps us to flow with the cycles of nature and rhythms of the universe without feeling like what we’re facing now will be permanent.
I’m also feeling inspired to open up my calendar for a few sessions, so if you want to talk through what you’re moving through, the decisions you’re facing, and apply a layer of astrology to help you understand the patterns or themes that you’re being asked to look at, I’m opening my calendar for the next 10 days.
